Evening with Friends of Charlie Parker Jazz Benefit

Veritas’ Annual Evening with Friends of Charlie Parker is a unique celebration of the memory of Charlie “Bird” Parker. The next Charlie Parker Benefit will be held in the Spring of 2010.

Charlie Parker Event

This outstanding concert event was the inspiration of Sandy Jackson, the late Doris Parker and fellow Veritas Foundation members including the late Max Roach and the late Milt Jackson, friends Jimmy Heath, Congressman Charles B. Rangel and the late Dizzy Gillespie. It was their belief that if an organization like Veritas had been available to Bird, his life may not have been cut short due to substance abuse. Each year since 1988, musicians have given their time and talent to this benefit, the proceeds of which support Veritas programs. The concert brings together the most respected names in music for an unforgettable evening honoring the legacy of Charlie Parker and promotes a future free from substance abuse for many through its support of Veritas’ programs.
