Healing Substance abuse is the wrecking ball in our families and our communities. Like it or not, it affects all of us – a neighbor, colleague, family member or friend. Substance abusers are not an isolated group. They are a part of everyone’s personal life and your community.

For more than 35 years, Veritas Therapeutic Community (Veritas) has provided comprehensive, drug-free treatment to substance abusers, and special services to the children and families of substance abusers, in order to break the intergenerational cycle of addiction. We understand that for addiction to cease, family reunification and family support are paramount. We promote family-centered and collaborative approaches to achieving the safety, permanency and the overall well-being of children and families.

What makes Veritas unique?

Veritas is a not-for-profit program with an unprecedented eight-fold return for every dollar invested.
Veritas is the only substance abuse treatment program in New York City that provides Residential Services, Outpatient Services, and Prevention Services targeted to families.
In 2005, Veritas launched its dynamic and successful family-focused Outpatient Program to keep families together and children out of foster care in the communities we serve.
Veritas provides the children of residents in treatment with early intervention services, mitigating the need for costly special education programs.
Veritas’ Young Mothers, Infants & Toddlers Program, opened in 1993, is one of the few programs in the country that provides residential treatment for addicted mothers and their infants.
Our state-of-the-art licensed day care center and early childhood intervention services are provided for the residents’ children on-site. The mothers receive parenting skills training, education and employment preparation.
In partnership with the NYC Administration for Children’s Services [ACS] and the Westchester Department of Social Services, Veritas works to address the toxic link between child abuse/neglect and parental alcohol and drug addiction
We reduce the massive strain on New York’s budget caused by substance abuse and train residents in treatment for jobs that have an impact on our local economy
Veritas is licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services. Funding is provided by New York State, New York City, the U.S. government, and contributions from individuals, foundations and corporations.
