Healing Families

Substance abuse is the wrecking ball in our families and our communities. Like it or not, it affects all of us – a neighbor, colleague, family member or friend. They are not an isolated group of people. They are a part of your personal life and your community. Simply put, substance abuse is not just something that happens to someone else’s life.

Veritas decided over thirty years ago that it would be our mission to offer substance abuse services to the entire family. In 1993 we opened our Young Mothers, Infants and Toddlers residential program which offers services to women in recovery and allows children to grow up in a drug-free environment. In 2001, we formed partnerships with child welfare agencies which brought substance abuse services to this greatly underserved population. In 2005 we launched our Family Outpatient program targeted to families and children in the child welfare system.

Three out of four children in the child welfare system have substance abusing parents. This need not be so. Why? Because family focused treatment works. Individuals recover, families reunite, children are rescued from the cycle of addiction and communities rebound.

Veritas understands that treatment is not just a matter of doing good work. It’s a matter of doing good work well and that is a function of resources. Effectiveness of treatment is directly related to funding. We hope you will become a friend of Veritas and with your financial support join us in our mission of healing the family by breaking the cycle of substance abuse.
